(WHTM) — Governor Shapiro ordered all Pennsylvania flags to be at half-staff.

Governor Shapiro announced on Facebook on May 30 that all U.S. and Pennsylvania flags on all Commonwealth grounds will fly at half-staff to honor fallen Central Berks Regional Police Officer Kristen Yeager.

“The women and men who wear the uniform put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe, and we owe them our deepest gratitude,” Shapiro said in a statement. “Our hearts are with her loved ones and the entire Central Berks Regional Police family as they recover from this tragedy.”

Officer Yeager was declared deceased on May 30 at 12:23 a.m. while in the line of duty, according to a statement from her department. Little details on the incident were released.

“I’ve ordered U.S. and Pennsylvania flags on all Commonwealth grounds to fly at half staff in honor of her memory — may it forever be a blessing,” Shapiro added.
