The Erie region is now getting not one, but two Wingstop franchise stores in the near future.
The first became public knowledge in Harborcreek Township on Aug. 8, when the township issued a zoning permit, but opening dates remain unclear. That is going in at 4474 Buffalo Road in a plaza that used to house a Price Rite at 4500 Buffalo Road.
The second Wingstop is heading for 5043 Peach St. in the Summit Plaza, which is in Millcreek. It has also been a Coney Island of Erie Diner, and before that it was a Jimmy Johns, according to Matt Waldinger, Millcreek planning and development director.

The former Coney Island of Erie, 5043 Peach St., will soon become a Wingstop chicken wing restaurant.
The building permit for the Millcreek location was issued Oct. 17.

A Millcreek Township building permit sign indicates that the former Coney Island of Erie, 5043 Peach St., will soon become a Wingstop chicken wing restaurant.
The Wingstop chain is based in Garland, Texas, where it first opened. Now it lists more than 2,000 restaurants worldwide, serving 15 flavors of chicken wings as well as tenders, sandwiches and combos with fries.
