Temperatures are expected to reach the 90s later this week in the Lehigh Valley while the area remains largely dry.

The pleasant weather from the weekend will continue to start the week, with highs in the mid-70s Monday and Tuesday. It will be a different story by the weekend, with highs expected to reaching into low 90s Friday and Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

Rain won’t enter the forecast until Sunday either.

“Some precipitation could be possible by the weekend, but confidence remains low at this time,” meteorologists wrote Monday in their daily forecast discussion.

Lehigh and Northampton counties are still under drought conditions, despite the rainfall over Memorial Day weekend.

About 2.2 inches of rain fell during the month of May, which is about 1.5 inches below normal, according to weather service data. Both counties have had about 3 inches below normal rainfall over the past six months, according to the data.
