The expERIEnce Children’s Museum is preparing to open its newest traveling exhibit, Bike Lab, on June 3.
Designed to encourage hands-on exploration, Bike Lab invites children and families to discover how bicycles move, how simple machines work, and how creativity and problem-solving connect to engineering and play.
Created in partnership with Gannon University’s MakerSpace, the exhibit turns STEAM-based learning into an interactive experience where visitors can build, test, experiment, and create together.
Bike Lab features several interactive stations, including a Bike Path riding area, a PVC Bike Build Station, a “Why Are Wheels Round?” testing station, a Bike Part Music Station, and a wall-mounted magnetic gear activity that allows children to explore motion and mechanics.
The exhibit introduces children to concepts in engineering, physics, problem-solving, and design thinking through hands-on activities. Guests can test how wheel shapes affect movement, explore cause and effect through gears, build bike-inspired creations, and discover how everyday objects can become musical instruments and machines.
Museum officials say the partnership with Gannon University’s MakerSpace highlights the value of community collaboration in creating educational opportunities for local families.
As part of the museum’s rotating traveling exhibit program, Bike Lab is intended to provide new learning opportunities and encourage repeat visits throughout the year.
