Wind advisory issued on Halloween for south-central Pennsylvania

TODAY IS AN IMPACT DAY, AND IT’S DUE TO THIS WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 8 A.M. UNTIL MIDNIGHT. WE HAVE ALL DAY TO DEAL WITH THESE GUSTY WINDS. HOWLING WINDS FOR HALLOWEEN. BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS THE STRONGEST WINDS, THE STRONGEST WIND GUSTS WILL BE DIMINISHING BY THE TIME YOU HEAD OUT FOR TRICK OR TREAT. LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THE PREDICTOR. SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS. THIS IS AROUND LUNCHTIME. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT SUSTAINED WINDS 15 TO 25MPH, EVEN 20 TO 25MPH. RIGHT AROUND LUNCHTIME INTO THE EARLY AFTERNOON. THAT’S WHEN I EXPECT THE STRONGEST WINDS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. BUT LOOK AT THIS. AFTER THE SUN GOES DOWN, THOSE WINDS SLOWLY DIMINISH. IT WILL STILL BE BLUSTERY FOR TRICK OR TREAT, JUST NOT AS BAD. HERE’S THE WIND GUSTS FOR YOU THROUGHOUT THE DAY. AND NOTICE RIGHT AROUND LUNCHTIME THROUGH THE EARLY AFTERNOON, THAT’S WHEN WE COULD TOP OUT AT THESE GUSTS AROUND 40MPH. SO 40 TO 45MPH WILL BE THE TOP PEAK. WIND GUSTS FOR MOST SPOTS. NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM FORECAST TODAY. MOSTLY CLOUDY TO START TURNING WINDY ACROSS THE BOARD THIS MORNING. GRADUAL CLEARING AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON, ALONG WITH THOSE GUSTY WINDS AND A HIGH OF 58. IT’S CLEAR FOR TRICK OR TREAT THIS EVENING, BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE BREEZE. HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS. IT’S GOING TO BE A BLUSTERY NIGHT, BUT THE WINDS DO CONTINUE TO DIE DOWN TONIGHT AND INTO THE WEEKEND. OVERNIGHT LOWS 44 TO 48. IT’S GOING TO BE BRISK AND CHILLY WITH DIMINISHING GUSTS. TOMORROW WE HAVE PARTLY SUNNY SKIES, BREEZY CONDITIONS, A SEASONABLE DAY, HIGH TEMPERATURES IN THE UPPER 50S FOR THE FIRST DAY OF NOVEMBER. CURRENTLY IT’S 46. IN LEWISTOWN. WE HAVE 50 IN YORK AND LANCASTER. GOOD MORNING. HARRISBURG, CARLISLE, EVEN LEBANON AT 51 DEGREES. TEMPERATURES FAIRLY UNIFORM HERE DUE TO THE CLOUDS AND THE BREEZE THAT HAS ALREADY PICKED UP. IN ADDITION, WE HAVE A COUPLE OF SHOWERS THAT ARE TRYING TO SQUEEZE INTO MIFFLIN, JUNIATA, PERRY COUNTIES WON’T RULE THOSE OUT THIS MORNING. THEY ARE WRAPPING AROUND THAT BIG WEATHER SYSTEM, THAT WET WEATHER SYSTEM THAT CAME THROUGH YESTERDAY. AND NOW THAT IS LIFTING INTO THE NORTHEAST. SO THAT IS HITTING THE ROAD. BUT BEHIND IT, WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE WIND TODAY. LOOK AT THIS MORNING CLOUDS, AFTERNOON SUNSHINE. WE GET THAT CLEARING SECOND HALF OF THE DAY. WINDS CONTINUE TO BE STRONG ALL DAY LONG INTO TONIGHT. AS WE HEAD INTO TOMORROW. IT’S STILL BREEZY. WE’LL SEE. SUN TO START. PARTLY SUNNY SKIES IN THE AFTERNOON. BUT FINALLY THE BIG BLUE H COMES TO THE RESCUE SATURDAY EVENING. THAT WILL HELP TO EASE THE WIND SPEED AND CHANGE OUR WIND DIRECTION A LITTLE BIT OUT OF THE SOUTHEAST FOR SUNDAY. SO SUNDAY WILL FEATURE PARTLY SUNNY SKIES, WARMER HIGH TEMPERATURES, UP NEAR 60, AND CALMER WINDS. IT’S GOING TO BE THE WARMER, CALMER HALF OF THE WEEKEND. LET’S TALK TROPICS. WE STILL HAVE HURRICANE MELISSA NOW RACING AWAY FROM BERMUDA. IT HAS REALLY PICKED UP FORWARD SPEED. LOOK AT THAT 41MPH. IT’S CURRENTLY A CATEGORY ONE STORM WITH WINDS OF 90MPH. SO NO DIRECT IMPACTS TO LAND AS IT RACES INTO THE NORTH ATLANTIC. HERE IT’S EXPECTED TO BE SOUTH OF ICELAND EARLY NEXT WEEK. HERE’S THE TEN DAY FORECAST. TEMPERATURES WILL BE IN THE 50S TODAY. TOMORROW. THEN WE START A STRETCH OF LOW 60S SUNDAY, MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY FOR ELECTION DAY. IT’S LOOKING DRY, MAYBE A LITTLE BRISK AND PLEASANT. AND THEN WE HAVE A COUPLE OF SHOWER CHANCES IN THERE. I’D SAY THURSDAY,
