Community members and first responders turned out Monday night for a procession honoring Central Berks Regional police Officer Kristen Yeager.
Yeager, 42, of Boyertown died Friday night after her cruiser crashed on Route 73 in Earl Township while she was responding to an emergency call, officials said.
The left Reading Hospital and traveled along Penn Avenue in West Reading to Route 422 east to the Mount Penn exit, ending at Lutz Funeral Home at 2100 Perkiomen Ave.
According to state police:
Yeager was eastbound on Route 73 at 7:50 p.m. Friday, responding to a call with the cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens activated.
Her vehicle left the paved portion of the road, went onto the grass shoulder and hit a tree near the intersection with Manatawny Road. She was thrown from the cruiser.
Emergency personnel arrived and conducted lifesaving measures. Yeager was transported to an area hospital. She died of injuries suffered in the crash.
