— The Wadena City Library is kicking off its 2026 Summer Reading Program on Monday, June 1, with a special event for children and families of all ages.
This year’s theme, “Plant a Seed, Read,” celebrates growth through reading and learning. The kickoff event will feature activity stations throughout the library, including opportunities to register for the Summer Reading Program through Beanstack, receive registration prizes, plant seeds for home gardens, paint rocks for the library’s garden snake, enjoy snacks and participate in additional activities.
The summer programming continues Wednesday, June 3, when author Lisa Cassman joins the library’s regular storytime at 10 a.m. Cassman will read her book,”Our Butterfly Walk”, and will remain after the program to sign and sell copies of the book.
On Friday, June 5, families are invited to enjoy a performance by comedy juggler Don B. The interactive show begins at 11:30 a.m. and is designed for audiences of all ages.
Born and raised in Wadena, author Monica Lee tells the story of her father in her latest book, “Prime Time: Ups and Downs of a Minnesota TV Man.” The book was released Jan. 13 and chronicles the life of Bob Wallgren, a farm kid turned can-fix-anything guru and small-town television repairman, drawing on his firsthand experiences as owner of the Wadena TV Center.
