A 28-year-old Sandusky man is facing a murder charge in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred May 31 in the city.
Tyler Cohen, of Pearl Street, was charged with murder, a first-degree felony, according to the Sandusky Police Department.
At 3 p.m., police officers and emergency personnel responded to the 1500 block of Pearl Street following a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to Firelands Regional Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Despite lifesaving efforts, the man later died from his injuries, police said.
The victim’s name is yet being publicly released.
Sandusky police officers and detectives immediately initiated an investigation into the shooting.
Through the course of that investigation, detectives identified Cohen as the alleged suspect, police said.
Cohen was located a short time later, taken into custody without incident and was transported to the Erie County Jail.
Cohen is in jail on a $1 million bond.
The shooting remains an active investigation.
During the June 1 court hearing in Sandusky Municipal Court, Cohen was ordered to have no contact with the victim’s family, according to court records.
Cohen is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing June 10.
