BETHLEHEM – The Christmas Town America 250 Committee invites Bethlehem children to take part in a Bicycle Decorating Contest, sponsored by Parks & Recreation as part of the America 250 celebration on July 4th. The parade takes place at 3:00 p.m. and travels from Bethlehem Elementary School to The Green.
Children are encouraged to showcase their creativity by jazzing up their bikes and riding in the parade alongside the Parks & Recreation Team. Entrants can participate in four categories of judging; Most Patriotic, Most Bethlehem, Most Creative, and Longest Caboose. Judging will occur in front of Memorial Hall after the parade. All participants will receive a bike safety kit, while the winners will be awarded a special prize.

An entire day of family activities is planned for the Fourth of July, starting at noon with an Ecumenical Service at First Church. A Photo Show will be on display in Memorial Hall between 12 and 6 p.m. After the parade and ceremonies, a town picnic at Gallop Field begins at 4:30 p.m. The day culminates at 9:00 p.m. with a fabulous fireworks display viewed from Gallop Field.
Nationwide, the America250 committee’s mission is to celebrate and commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, marking America’s Semiquincentennial. Its aim is to inspire Americans to reflect on our past, strengthen our love of country, and renew our commitment to the ideals of democracy through programs that educate, engage, and unite us as a nation.
