Police are investigating the shooting of a 20-year-old on the city’s West Side.

According to Police Chief Thomas Carroll, a 60-year-old man shot a 20-year-old neighbor with a handgun during a dispute.

The 60-year-old suspect is now in his residence on Third Avenue and refusing to come out.

Carroll emphasized there is no threat to the community and the situation has been contained. Police are on scene and are continuing to encourage the man to come out of his house, Carroll said.

The 20-year-old has been transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. “It’s non-life threatening,” Carroll said.

A neighbor who lives in an adjacent unit was assisted from his residence by the safety operations unit, Carroll said.
