Presque Isle State Park is offering a full slate of educational and outdoor programs throughout June, giving visitors opportunities to explore nature, learn new skills and enjoy the region’s natural resources.
The June lineup includes guided hikes, pontoon boat rides, fishing excursions, biking tours, kayaking programs and family-friendly STEM activities.
One of the featured programs is the Lagoon by Pontoon series, which offers free interpretive boat rides through Misery Bay and the Presque Isle lagoons every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through September. Participants can learn about local wildlife and ecosystems while exploring the park from the water.
Fishing enthusiasts can take advantage of the park’s free Rod and Reel Loaner Program, available through September at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center. Visitors can borrow fishing rods, reels and tackle boxes at no cost.
Several nature-focused programs are scheduled throughout the month, including guided hikes highlighting the unique plant life found at Presque Isle and Erie Bluffs State Park. The “Fantastic Flora” series features both in-person and virtual opportunities to learn about native plants and habitats.
Families with young children can participate in the “Outside the Window: Little Naturalists” program beginning June 16. The drop-in series is designed for children ages 3 to 6 and includes story time, crafts and outdoor exploration.
Other upcoming events include an archery workshop, a bicycle tour of Presque Isle, an eco-paddle through the park’s lagoons, a beach-themed craft program and a family STEM night focused on plant adaptations.
The month concludes with “Stories by Campfire on the Beach” on June 30, where visitors can gather at Beach 11 to hear stories about the park’s wildlife, history and natural wonders.
Many programs require advance registration, and some have participation fees. Additional information and registration details are available through Presque Isle State Park and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources event calendar.
