BETHLEHEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Northampton County Coroner’s Office has released the identity of a man who died after falling off the trunk of a vehicle he was riding on at a shopping center in Bethlehem Township.
Daniel J. Maffea, 20, of Bethlehem Township, was riding on the closed trunk area of a moving vehicle which was traveling across Madison Blvd., between 4797 and 4753 Freemansburg Ave. when he was thrown from the vehicle.
The accident happened on Madison Farms Shopping Center along Freemansburg Avenue in Bethlehem Township on Friday, May 22, according to the Northampton County coroner.
Authorities say Daniel J. Maffea, 20, of Bethlehem Township, was riding on the closed trunk area of a moving vehicle which was traveling across Madison Blvd., between 4797 and 4753 Freemansburg Ave. when he was thrown from the vehicle.
Maffea was transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus where he was pronounced dead on May 29 due to his injuries, the coroner said.
The cause of death was determined to be Blunt Force Head Trauma, and the manner of death was ruled Accidental, according to the coroner.
