Michael Missanelli, 70, of Wynnewood, was arrested by Lower Merion Police on Wednesday, April 8, and charged with Misdemeanor Simple Assault and Summary Harassment, according to court records.
Officers were called to a home on Dale Road in the Wynnewood section of Lower Merion Township just after midnight for a 911 hang-up, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
When police arrived, Missanelli told officers he and his fiancé had gotten into a “scuffle” during an argument and said she struck him in the chest, the affidavit states.
His fiancé told police the argument was about their engagement and alleged that Missanelli open-hand slapped her on the left side of her face, according to the complaint.
An officer reported observing fresh blood on her forehead from a laceration and swelling to her ear, authorities wrote in the affidavit.
Missanelli was taken into custody at the scene, police said.
Court records show he was released after posting $10,000 unsecured bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22 at 10 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Karen Eisner Zucker.
Missanelli is a longtime Philadelphia sports media personality who previously hosted on 97.5 The Fanatic before leaving the station in 2022. He began his career as a writer for The Philadelphia Inquirer and later worked at 610 WIP and 93.3 WMMR.
No attorney was listed for Missanelli in court records as of Friday, April 10.
