(WJET/WFXP) – The first Pride parades took place in 1970, one year after the Stonewall Riots.
Since then, Pride Month has been celebrated all across the nation with not only parades, but a variety of different events.
If you’re looking to celebrate Pride in Erie this year, below is a list of local events happening throughout the month of June.
Drag Bingo at King’s Rook Club
Looking to play a game with some fierce competition?
On Thursday, June 4, King’s Rook Club, located at 1921 Peach Street, is kicking off its Pride celebrations with a night of Drag Bingo!
Hosted by local drag queen Shea D’Heaux, the event will provide “a fabulous night of entertainment and prizes, of course!”
Doors open at 8 p.m., and bingo begins at 9:30 p.m.
Members of the King’s Rook Club can attend the event for free, while non-members can attend for a $5 entry fee. Please note that the King’s Rook Club is a 21+ venue.

Pride in the Collection
From Andy Warhol to Frida Kahlo, LGBTQ+ artists have and continue to reshape pop culture.
Now, the Erie Art Museum, located at 20 East 5th Street, is hosting its first-ever reception to celebrate these LGBTQ+ artists.
Pride in the Collection takes place on Saturday, June 6, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Those in attendance can enjoy live music, cocktails and snacks as they view pieces created by LGBTQ+ artists and local college students.

1020 Collective & Compton’s Table Open Mic Night
This Pride event is giving residents a place to express themselves.
Compton’s Table, a local LGBTQ+ organization, has partnered with the 1020 Collective to host a Pride Open Mic Night.
The event, hosted by Shea D’Heaux and Todd Paropacic, encourages everyone to stand up and share something.
“Whether you’re sharing a poem, a song, a story, or simply coming to support others, all are welcome,” 1020 Collective’s website states.
Pride Open Mic Night will take place on Thursday, June 11, from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the 1020 Collective, located at 1020 Holland Street. Entry costs $10.

Reel Rituals Presents: The Old Dark House
Before the days of rainbow flags, LGBTQ+ filmmakers were showing their pride in black and white.
Reel Rituals, composed of hosts Madman Mook and The Pentacle Pinup, partnered with the 1020 Collective to host a screening of the 1932 horror film The Old Dark House on Friday, June 12.
The Old Dark House was directed by James Whale, an openly gay director best known for Bride of Frankenstein (1935) and The Invisible Man (1933).
Doors to the event open at 5:30 p.m., an informative pre-movie presentation will begin at 7 p.m. and the film will begin at 8 p.m.
The 1020 Collective is located at 1020 Holland Street. Tickets to the event cost $10.

Erie Pride Parade 2026
One of the biggest staples of Pride Month is, of course, the parades.
On Sunday, June 14, NWPA Pride Alliance will host its annual Pride Parade!
“This year, our theme is Make Waves. We are marching to be seen, heard, and celebrated,” the NWPA Pride Alliance website states.
Line-up will take place at 11th and State Street beginning at 12 p.m., and step off begins at 1 p.m. sharp.
Following the parade, those in attendance are encouraged to hang out and enjoy festivities in Perry Square.

Pride on the Bay 2026
Looking to enjoy the views of Lake Erie this Pride Month? Then this event is for you!
Pride on the Bay takes place on Saturday, June 27, from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Liberty Park.
The event will feature local food trucks, drag performances and community resources, as well as showing local artists and vendors.
Headlining the performances is Erie-native and RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars winner Alaska.
Admission to the event is free, and all are welcome to attend.

Erie Pride After Party
Looking to keep the party going after Pride at the Bay ends? One local bar has you covered.
The Zone, Erie’s “only Queer Dance Club,” will host a Pride After Party beginning at 5 p.m.
The 21+ event will feature a free buffet and no cover charge until 8 p.m.
