READING, Pa. – The Berks County Commissioners voted Thursday to authorize letters of support for grant applications for two community causes.
The first is support for a grant application from the Central Pennsylvania Figure Skating Club to the Sports Marketing and Tourism account program.
The Central Pennsylvania Figure Skating Club has been selected to host the 2027 U.S. Figure Skating Eastern Sectional Synchronized Skating Championships, schedule to be held Jan. 20-23 at the Santander Arena in Reading.
The second is support for a grant application from Cumru Township for the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development Multimodal Transportation grant for the rehabilitation of the Poplar Neck Bridge over the Schuylkill River.
In another matter, the commissioners awarded a $1,050,000 one-year contract for Employment, Advancement and Retention Network Services for Pennsylvania CareerLink®, Berks County, to Educational Data Systems, Inc., Dearborn, Michigan.
The contract allows the county to reserve the right to extend the agreement up to two additional years.
The commissioners also announced that the regular commissioner’s meeting on Thursday, June 11 has been cancelled.
