ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Students at Sonia Sotomayor Dual Language Immersion Academy in Allentown are bringing history to life as they celebrate America’s 250th anniversary.
They created a colorful mosaic tile mural highlighting major American achievements.
Subjects like science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.
The project gave students the chance to explore history while showing off their creativity.
“I wanted the kids to get to love America for what their vision of America is, not the vision that is portrayed on television or anything else. I wanted them to make their own interpretation,” said Amaris Recker, instructional coach.
The mural also includes a handcrafted red oak artwork depicting the American flag — and celebrating 250 years of American innovation.
