Cara Evans advanced to the PIAA Class 2A girls tennis quarterfinals Friday afternoon, while players from Abington Heights ended their seasons in Class 3A during the morning session at the Hershey Racquet Club on Friday.

Evans, the District 2 champion, improved her singles record to 21-0 this season and 57-3 in her varsity career, defeating Quaker Valley sophomore Avery Allan, 6-1, 6-0, in the first round.

In the evening session, Evans was scheduled to play Lower Moreland freshman Khaya Lukov in the quarterfinals. Lukov defeated Punxsutawney Area senior Olivia Toven, 6-0, 6-0.

Last week, Lukov played Scranton Prep junior Lily Lengyel, the District 2 singles runner-up to Evans, in the PIAA Class 2A Team Championship final and lost, 6-1, 7-6 (9). Evans had two wins over Lengyel during the season.

In Class 3A, Abington Heights’ district champion players ended their seasons in the PIAA Class 3A first round.

Sona Hanumali lost to West Chester Henderson freshman Erika Dunwoody, 6-0, 6-0. Hanumali, an All-Region player for the Lady Comets, finished her career with a record of 69-14.

The Abington Heights doubles team of Amishi Amit and Sammy Rosenstein lost to Downingtown East’s team of Mahi Patel and Joya Mentrikoski, 6-0, 6-1.
