ALLENTOWN, Pa. – An Allentown man was charged on Friday with child rape and sexual assault charges, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office.
Christian Tavares, 25, of Allentown was charged with felony charges of Rape, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, Endangering the Welfare of a Child (child less than age 6), Indecent Assault – Victim less than 13 years of age, and corruption of minors, according to the DA’s Office.
Officials say that Tavares was arraigned on Friday and was freed on $50,000 unsecure bail. Tavares’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Nov. 18.
The rape and sexual assault occurred in 2015 in a home on S. 9th Street in Allentown, according to officials.
Police say that on April 29, 2025, they received a report from a victim who said he was sexually assaulted by Tavares when the victim was 5 years old.
The victim underwent a forensic interview and said Tavares raped and sexually assaulted him, the press release says.
The victim said that he came forwards years after the fact following the death of a sibling, according to officials.
This case was investigated by Allentown Police Detective Suzanne Toth and will be prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney Sara A. Moyer.
