Families packed the Erie Zoo on Saturday for the return of one of its most popular annual summer events, Big Equipment Day.
The event gave children the chance to get up close to the large trucks and vehicles they often see working in their neighborhoods and along local roadways.
Kids explored a wide variety of equipment, including dump trucks, excavators, tractors, and emergency vehicles. Many children had the opportunity to climb aboard the vehicles, sit in the driver’s seat, and pose for photos with their favorite ones.
The equipment was displayed throughout the zoo grounds, allowing visitors to combine their love of big trucks with a day spent visiting the zoo’s animals and exhibits.
Organizers say the event continues to be a favorite among families because it offers a hands-on experience that lets children learn about the vehicles and equipment that help keep communities running.
The Erie Zoo is preparing for its next major event, the annual Mane Event, scheduled for June 27.
