SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — It’s a chance to turn local history into something you can take home: Crowds are filling the Scranton Iron Furnaces this weekend for the annual Arts on Fire Festival.
The event features live music, craft vendors, and demonstrations celebrating the city’s industrial past.
One of the biggest attractions is the scratch block iron pour.

Visitors carved their own designs into molds before blacksmiths filled them with molten iron, creating one-of-a-kind keepsakes.
“It’s connecting with the heritage of this place, especially what they did here. You know, thinking of ironworks and iron furnaces kind of feels a little bit abstract. But you could come here and actually make something and take something with you,” Pennsylvania Anthracite Heritage MuseumMuseum Educator Nicole Negron said.
The event continues Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Electric City.
