ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a juvenile dead Saturday night in Allentown.
According to a press release from the Allentown Police Department, the shooting occurred around 10:01 p.m. near the intersection of North Jay Street and East North Street.
Police said officers responding to the scene discovered three victims suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel provided treatment at the scene before transporting all three individuals to area hospitals.
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office reported that one of the victims was pronounced dead at 11:31 p.m. in the hospital’s emergency department. The juvenile died from gunshot injuries, and the manner of death has been ruled a homicide, the coroner says.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, June 8, at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center.
The victim has been positively identified, but authorities have not released their name to allow the family time to grieve privately.
The investigation is being conducted by the Allentown Police Department, the Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, and the Coroner’s Office.
No additional information has been released at this time.
