The Four Tops to open Allentown Fair, backed by Symphony Orchestra

Motown icons The Four Tops will headline the opening night of the Allentown Fair Sept. 2, backed by the Allentown Symphony.

“The Great Allentown Fair has always been about bringing exceptional entertainment to our community, and this performance is truly something special,” said Jessica Ciecwisz, the fair’s Marketing & Entertainment Manager, said in a release. “The combination of The Four Tops’ legendary catalog and the artistry of the Allentown Symphony Orchestra will create an unforgettable evening for music lovers of all generations.”

The Four Tops recorded 24 U.S. Top 40 hits during their 70-year career, including “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “Baby I Need Your Loving,” and “It’s the Same Old Song,”

Today, the group is comprised of Lawrence Payton Jr., Theo Peoples, Ronnie McNeir and Michael Brock.

Joining The Four Tops will be the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, whose musicians will provide a rich symphonic backdrop to The Four Tops’ iconic hits, creating a concert experience unlike any other.

Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday, and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or at the fair’s box office, which will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. All show tickets include fair admission.

Other fair headliners are Stars, Stripes & Slams championship pro wrestling on Sept. 3, country star Warren Zeiders on Sept. 4, rock band All Time Low on Sept. 5 and LocalLegends Live, featuring local artists, on Sept. 6.
