City of Erie Reminds Residents of Youth Curfew Ordinance - 1

As part of its continued commitment to community safety, the City of Erie is reminding residents of its year-round curfew ordinance for individuals under the age of 18.

City officials emphasize that the curfew is designed to protect young people and promote a safer environment throughout the community.

Under the ordinance, minors must remain at home between the hours of 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., unless they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The curfew aims to reduce risks associated with unsupervised late-night activity and ensure the well-being of the city’s youth. Officials stress that parental involvement is key in helping young residents understand and follow the law.

While the ordinance is strictly enforced, there are a few exceptions. Minors may be out during curfew hours in the case of an emergency. Additionally, those accompanied by a parent or legal guardian are not subject to the curfew restrictions.

City leaders encourage parents and guardians to discuss the curfew with their children and reinforce the importance of adhering to the rules.

The City of Erie hopes that through community cooperation and awareness, the curfew will continue to serve as an effective measure to keep young residents safe.

The city reminds residents that, “Safety is everyone’s responsibility.”
