A new exhibit is coming to Glass Growers June 25 created by Erie born Artist Edward Allen Macie. This solo exhibition of paintings and drawings. On June 26 interested parties can be meet the artist during the Opening Reception on Gallery Night from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. at 10 E. 5th St., Erie.
As described by Glass Growers: Nature’s Breath is the gentle morning breeze, the scent of ancient forests, the mist rising from valleys, the fragrance of blooming flowers, and the chill of a winter day- forever connecting all living things together in a timeless dance of life.
Macie’s work captures the moment and movement in the space between observer and things observed. Inspired by arboretums, greenhouses, conservancies, forests, gardens, and parks, each piece reflects the artist’s deep gratitude for precious objects, wondrous places, and beautiful people encountered across a lifetime.
Rooted in the classic disciplines of still-life, landscape, and portraiture, Macie brings a lifelong command of draftsmanship and design to work that is both technically accomplished and quietly personal.
His paintings and drawings channel a reverence for the natural world, rendered with the careful eye of an illustrator and the feeling of someone who has spent decades looking closely.
Macie was born and raised in Erie PA and attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City before coming back to his hometown to put his skills to use. He worked as a freelance designer for the Erie Times, The Erie Art Museum, a graphic artist at Silkscreen Specialties, and more.
Now Macie’s work is focused on still-life, and landscapes, where he brings the same eye for detail that brough him so much success into the world of fine art.
