WWE Hall of Famer and 1996 Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle turned heads Friday night, June 5, when he emerged from the tunnel at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to walk country star Morgan Wallen to the stage in front of a sold-out crowd.
Video quickly surfaced on X showing Wallen encountering a hooded figure en route to the stage — a figure revealed to be Angle, who then escorted Wallen the rest of the way to thunderous applause. The clip spread widely, generating significant attention beyond those in attendance.
The moment carried local resonance: Angle was born and raised in Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, just south of downtown Pittsburgh, making his appearance a homecoming of sorts for western Pennsylvania fans.
Angle won an Olympic gold medal in the 100 kg freestyle wrestling division at the 1996 Atlanta Games and earned two NCAA Division I Championships, in 1990 and 1992. He went on to become a 12-time world professional heavyweight champion, capturing six titles in WWE and six in TNA. In TNA, he became the second Triple Crown winner in company history and the only wrestler to hold all available titles simultaneously. He also made appearances for New Japan Pro-Wrestling during his career.
Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2017 and wrestled his final WWE match at WrestleMania 35 in 2019.
The walkout series has become a recurring talking point across entertainment and sports circles, with previous guests including Caitlin Clark, Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Mike Tyson, Drake, and Moneybagg Yo — reflecting a broader trend of crossover moments between wrestling, sports, and music.
Wallen is currently on his Still the Problem Tour in support of his latest studio album, I’m the Problem, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 when it was released in May 2025.
