OBITUARY
Bernard J. Solomon, Jr., 71, of Jessup, passed away Saturday, June 6th, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, with his wife by his side. He was the husband of Barbara (Bisignani) Solomon for 48 years.
Bernard was born in Peckville, PA on July 5, 1954, a son of the late Regina (Poplarchik) and Bernard P. Solomon, Sr. He was a graduate of Valley View High School Class of 1972 and attended Penn State Worthington College. He worked for Suckle Corp. in Scranton for 29 years until its closing, and was the proud secretary of IUE Local 127. He also worked at Keystone Printing, Cinram and retired from Clarks Summit State Hospital.
He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and enjoyed watching all kinds of sporting events. He was a master of many things including being quick witted, being able to fix anything, and supporting and protecting his family.
Also survived by two sons; Brian Sol and fiancee Jenifer Winters, of Olyphant; Mark and wife Jocelyn Codner, of Pittsburgh; two brothers: Ed and wife Theresa Solomon, of South Dakota; George and wife Solly Solomon, of Hawaii, sister-in-law Joyce Rapp and her husband Greg, of Millville, NJ and brother-in-law Paul Bisignani, Jessup, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother Aloyosius “Wishie” Solomon and by father-in-law and mother-in-law Leo J. and Jean Bisignani.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 on Thursday, June 11th, at Queen of Angels Parish at St. Michael’s Church in Jessup, with Rev. Gerard M. McGlone officiating. Viewing will be held 8:30 to 9:30 on Thursday, June 11th, at Harrison Funeral Home in Archbald, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
