Applicant hits pause on data center proposal in Allentown | Allentown Area

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Two major projects scheduled for review by the Allentown Planning Commission were postponed Tuesday afternoon at City Hall.

One involved a proposed data center at 2401 Emaus Ave. The proposal involves an amended land development application to revise a previously approved plan for a 224,000-square-foot warehouse building into a data center use including a 23,342-square-foot addition for a 247,342-square-foot total. The review was postponed at the applicant’s request.

No further information was provided about the application itself or when it will be heard on Tuesday afternoon. Chairman Christian Brown noted the resubmission would be heard at “a later date.”

Apartment Building

A second case involving a seven-story, 200-unit mixed-use apartment building was postponed at the applicant’s request.

The proposal includes 18,000 square feet of retail space and associated improvements. No information or future date for review was provided officially at Tuesday afternoon’s session.

Townhomes

The planning commission granted land development approval for a resubmitted plan involving six townhomes at 401 Harrison St.

The plan, called Southside Homes at Harrison, received various public comment by residents who expressed concerns about the project including flooding.
