EMMAUS, Pa. – The Emmaus Police Department announced the passing of retired K9 Ronny.
K9 Ronny served the residents and visitors of Emmaus for seven years after being appointed to the Emmaus Police Department in May 2016, according to a social media post from the police department.
Police say throughout his career, Ronny worked alongside his handler Sgt. Murante to help keep the community safe.
After a distinguished career, K9 Ronny retired in August 2023 and enjoyed a well-deserved retirement surrounded by those who loved and cared for him, officers say.
“K9 Ronny was more than a police dog—he was a trusted partner, a valued member of our department, and an ambassador to our community. His service and devotion will not be forgotten,” the post reads.
The department extended its heartfelt condolences to his handler Sgt. Murante, family, and all those who had the privilege of working with and knowing Ronny.
“Thank you for your service, Ronny. Rest easy, faithful friend. Your watch has ended, but your legacy will live on forever,” the police department says.
Allentown Police Department released the following statement on Facebook:
“On behalf of the Allentown Police Department, I extend my heartfelt condolences to Sgt. Murante, the Emmaus Police Department, and everyone mourning the loss of retired K9 Ronny. Ronny served his community with unwavering loyalty, courage, and dedication throughout his distinguished career. The bond between a K9 and handler is unlike any other, and his service will leave a lasting legacy.”
