The Erie-Western Pennsylvania Port Authority is making it easier for residents and visitors to enjoy Presque Isle Bay this summer by offering free rides aboard the Presque Isle Water Taxi every Friday through Labor Day.
The “Free Friday” program begins June 12, and will provide complimentary round-trip ferry service between Dobbins Landing and the Waterworks Ferry Dock on Presque Isle during normal operating hours from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Passengers can ride free on a first-come, first-served basis, but tickets must be reserved in advance online at the Presque Isle Water Taxi website. Bicycles are also welcome aboard for a small additional fee.
The water taxi offers a convenient connection between downtown Erie and Presque Isle State Park, giving riders a unique way to travel across Presque Isle Bay while avoiding vehicle traffic.
Regular fare tickets will continue to be available for service on Thursdays and Saturdays through Mondays.
The Free Friday program is made possible through support from the Erie Community Foundation and Erie Insurance.
