Authorities in Northampton County are warning people to stay away from dead birds after multiple dead geese were found in ponds, prompting bird flu concerns.
The geese were found in retention ponds at the end of High Point Boulevard off of Schoenersville Road in Hanover Township, according to a Wednesday afternoon Facebook post from Colonial Regional Police.

Police did not say when the dead birds were found.
The state game commission is investigating and testing the birds for the possibility of avian flu, according to the post. The commission is working with a testing facility to collect and examine the birds, police said.
Police warned the public not to touch or attempt to collect any dead birds, and to keep pets and children away from the retention pond.
Several other cases of dead geese around the Lehigh Valley have been reported in recent years. In February, an estimated 30-50 dead birds prompted the closure of a public park in Northampton borough. Hundreds of dead snow geese found in a Northampton County quarry in December 2025 as a result of bird flu.
Anyone who observes dead birds should report them to the Game Commission at 1-833-742-9453.
