Ian Patrick Quigg, 30, of the 4500 block of Ritchie Street, died following the collision on the 6800 block of Henry Avenue around 12:20 p.m., according to the Philadelphia Police Department.
Police and emergency personnel responded to the scene for a reported crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV.
According to preliminary investigators, Quigg was operating a 2006 black Honda CBR-600 southbound on Henry Avenue while a 2025 white Ford Explorer, driven by a 76-year-old man, was traveling northbound and attempting to make a left turn.
The vehicles collided as the SUV turned, causing Quigg to lay the motorcycle down and slide underneath the Ford Explorer, police said.
Philadelphia Fire Department medics pronounced Quigg dead at the scene.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center as a precautionary measure and was listed in stable condition, authorities said.
The Philadelphia Police Department’s Crash Investigation Division is investigating the crash.
