A Greenfield Twp. man who followed another vehicle and threatened to kill the driver’s son faces charges of making terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct, police said.
At about 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Gregory Tropiak, 42, parked his vehicle on Hickory Ridge Road, waiting for Joseph Lapiers to drive past.
Lapiers noticed Tropiak’s parked vehicle as he approached it. When he passed the truck, the driver began following him, driving erratically, according to a criminal complaint.
When Lapiers turned onto Route 247, Tropiak continued to follow him and began honking his horn.
Lapiers pulled over and Tropiak began shouting, “I know your kid is breaking into my garage. … I should’ve killed him before. Next time, I will kill him.”
As Lapiers, fearful for the safety of his family, began driving away, Tropiak continued screaming at him.
Tropiak remains in Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on June 23 before District Judge Paul Keeler.
