BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Juneteenth celebrations get underway this week in advance of the actual holiday on the 19th.
New this year is a celebration called JuneTweenth which celebrates Black art and Black business.
Marquett Ferrell, who is the host of the event, joined 69 News at Sunrise.
The event is happening on Friday at Bethlehem’s Rose Garden from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Ferrell said the event will feature vendors and live music.
It’ll be “a fun, engaging community experience,” he said.
Performers include a local poet, groups from Philly, and Ferrell himself.
He said he performs hip hop and R&B.
Ferrell said he likes to use his art and his platform to benefit the community and marginalized groups.
He said he hopes to make the festival an annual event.
