BERN TWP., Pa.- While municipalities in the 69 News viewing area and beyond grapple with building standards and rules for data centers, a Berks County company is focused on how to keep them running effectively.

EnerSys is rolling out a new lithium battery system for data centers.

The DataSafe Noir system is designed to control energy flow in high-density, high-variability environments, including AI-driven load conditions, the company said, in a news release: “As data centers increase in density, complexity, and reliance on dynamic AI-driven workloads, the challenge is no longer just selecting a battery. It is managing how power systems perform under stress.”

Compared to other lithium battery systems, the Noir system delivers more than twice the output power and over 1.7-times greater energy and capacity, EnerSys said.

The Noir system isn’t EnerSys’ first foray into data center-related products; it already sells a lead-acid battery version of its DataSafe technology.

EnerSys is headquartered in Bern Township. The company bills itself as the largest industrial battery manufacturer in the world, operating manufacturing and assembly facilities worldwide for customers in more than 100 countries.

It operates a distribution facility in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County, near Allentown.
