Police investigate shootings in Wilkinsburg, Penn Hills & Pittsburgh

Police are investigating a series of shootings that left scenes across Wilkinsburg, Penn Hills, and Pittsburgh that began late Wednesday night. According to police, the incidents started around 11 p.m. when Allegheny County 911 received a ShotSpotter alert from the 1600 block of Laketon Road in Wilkinsburg. When officers arrived, they say they found several shell casings on the ground. Police believe two women were shot at that scene and then drove to the intersection of Allegheny River Boulevard and Nadine Road in Penn Hills. Medics would pick up both women and take them to the hospital. One was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg and a graze to the wrist, while the other was grazed in the leg. Back in Wilkinsburg, police said while they were processing the first scene, two cars sped toward them, and a passenger in one of the cars began shooting at the other car with a child inside. Investigators said they chased the car with the suspected shooter but eventually lost sight of it. Police said the car being shot at would stop at the intersection of Robinson Boulevard and Sunrise Avenue in the East Hills and called police. Pittsburgh Action News 4 crews at the scene observed a car with a shattered window being towed on Sunrise Avenue. Authorities said the women taken to the hospital are in stable condition, and the man and child involved in the East Hills scene were not injured. Police have not said if anyone has been arrested in connection with the incidents.The investigation into the shootings is ongoing.
