A Lehigh Valley drive-in restaurant will celebrate 60 years of family ownership this weekend with $1 hot dogs, $2 burgers and other specials while supplies last.
Richard’s Drive-In will host the celebration 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at 2700 Freemansburg Ave. in Palmer Township, co-owner Eve Gouskos said.
Other offerings will include fries for $2.50, medium sodas for $1.75, small ice cream cones for $2 and thin milkshakes for $3. The Cat Country 96 radio station will also give out IronPigs tickets as prizes.
Richard G. Presutti founded Richard’s Drive-In in 1959.
Gouskos said that her father and uncle, Theodore Kastrinakis and Nikitas Papageorgiou, purchased the business in 1966. Nikitas’s brother, Demetrios, became a partner in the 1970s.
The drive-in’s owners as of today are Gouskos, Nikitas’ daughter Maria Sumelidis and Demetrios’s wife Maria Papageorgiou.
“I think it’s a very proud moment,” Gouskos said of the milestone.
“It’s a legacy that we leave,” Sumelidis said.
