MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Drivers should plan for significant traffic delays Friday afternoon and evening in the Montage Mountain area as thousands of people are expected to attend a Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders doubleheader and a Machine Gun Kelly concert.
The Moosic Borough Police Department announced a temporary traffic plan will be implemented beginning at 3 p.m. to manage the anticipated increase in traffic around PNC Field and The Pavilion at Montage Mountain.
Under the traffic plan, outbound traffic on Montage Mountain Road between Glenmaura National Boulevard and the upper traffic signal at Glenmaura National Boulevard will be restricted. All available lanes in that section will be dedicated to inbound traffic heading toward the entertainment complex.
Police said drivers exiting businesses and commercial properties along Montage Mountain Road in the affected area will be required to make right turns only.
Motorists leaving those businesses should continue to the traffic signal at the intersection of Montage Mountain Road and Glenmaura National Boulevard.
Officials say Glenmaura National Boulevard can be used as an alternate route to bypass the restricted section of Montage Mountain Road.
Police officers, traffic control personnel and temporary traffic control devices will be stationed throughout the area to assist with traffic flow and public safety.
The temporary traffic pattern is intended to reduce congestion and improve safety for motorists, pedestrians, event attendees, employees and business patrons.
