Five people were injured, several seriously, in a head-on crash Wednesday afternoon on Route 183 north of Plum Creek Road in Penn Township, state police said.
According to troopers from the Reading station:
Jamsly Charles, 35, of Reading, crossed the center line while driving southbound on Bernville Road, which is Route 183, close to Old State Road shortly after 4 p.m.
His compact car collided with a northbound sedan driven by Arianna Wertz, 22, of Bernville.
Charles suffered suspected minor injuries, while his two passengers, Yerson Rodriguez, 27, of Reading and Islande Attelus, 33, no address given, were both seriously injured.
Wertz and her passenger, Ricardo Guzman, 43, of Reading, were both seriously injured.
All of the patients were taken by ambulances to Reading Hospital. Information on their medical conditions was unavailable.
Charles was cited for failing to stay within his lane of travel.
