The Erie Otters are celebrating a major milestone in franchise history with a fresh look for their upcoming 30th season in the Ontario Hockey League.
The organization unveiled a new primary logo, secondary logo, and a special 30th anniversary logo on June 10, all designed to honor the club’s past while looking toward its future.
One of the most noticeable changes is the return of red as a secondary team color. The color was a staple of the franchise’s identity for years and was prominently featured during some of the team’s most successful eras, including those featuring stars such as Ryan O’Reilly, Connor McDavid, and others. The updated shade of red complements the familiar navy and gold colors that have long defined Otter’s hockey.
The new primary logo serves as an evolution of the original Otters logo introduced during the team’s inaugural 1996-97 season. While retaining elements from the club’s 2019-20 rebrand, including the otter’s hockey helmet, the updated design places greater emphasis on the franchise’s traditional color scheme.
The team also introduced an updated version of its Keystone Otters logo. First introduced during the 2019-20 rebrand and featured on alternate jerseys beginning in the 2023-24 season, the revised design incorporates red more prominently while replacing silver accents with off-white tones that match the new primary logo.
To commemorate the milestone season, the Otters also revealed a dedicated 30th anniversary logo. The design features a large gold “30” outlined in off-white and red against a navy background.
A vintage-style Otters script, inspired by the shoulder patches worn on team jerseys from 1996 through 2015, appears at the bottom. Three stars at the top of the logo symbolize three decades of Otters hockey. The logo will be worn as a shoulder patch on team uniforms throughout the 2026-27 season.
The team partnered once again with Erie-based creative agency Tungsten, the firm responsible for the original Otters logo and every major branding update throughout the franchise’s history.
The new logos mark the beginning of what the team says will be a season-long celebration of 30 years of Otters hockey. Additional details surrounding anniversary events and promotions are expected to be announced in the coming weeks as the club prepares for the 2026-27 OHL season.
