Twenty-one baseball players from the BoCoPreps.com area paved their ways onto CHSAA’s all-state lists, which recognize the best players in Colorado.
In Class 5A, Erie’s right-handed pitcher/infielder Maddox Burnett graced first team after he put together a 1.77 ERA, 7-2 record and struck out 105 batters, all while batting .551.
Fairview’s Tanner Craytor, the Daily Camera player of the year, impressed at the plate with a .469 batting average and 11 home runs, five triples and 30 RBIs off of 38 hits. He was the lone representative on second team.
Erie catcher/right-handed pitcher Evan Dillinger; Broomfield’s Bryce Jackson, JR Ramsey, JC Smith, James Varela; Boulder infielder/right-handed pitcher Maks Matheson, left-handed pitcher/outfielder Toby Schoenfeld, catcher/outfielder Sam Skubic, infielder/right-handed pitcher Finn Torvik and Fairview’s Jackson Wier all made honorable mention.
In Class 4A, only Holy Family pitcher Austin Mireiter picked up a second-team nod after he accrued 93 strikeouts and a 2.14 ERA.
Honorable mentions in that classification included Holy Family outfielder/pitcher Britain Fox, first baseman Eddie Hill and Mead’s Isaac Lockwood.
In Class 3A, Prospect Ridge shortstop Josiah Bote and right-handed pitcher/first baseman Austin Huffman picked up honorable mentions.
Lyons shortstop/pitcher Jake LaCrosse led the way in Class 2A with a first-team selection after leading his team with a .554 batting average, 1.01 ERA, 8-1 record and 124 strikeouts. Dawson’s Milo Richtel, who once led the entire nation in slugging percentage before ending his season at fifth (1.603) — and also ranked No. 13 in batting average (.690) and No. 18 in on-base percentage (.766) — doubled up as the Times-Call player of the year and a 2A first-teamer.
Lyons shortstop/pitcher Zack LaCrosse rounded out the local representation with a spot on 2A honorable mention.
