Cape May County officials issued a serious warning to residents after five drug overdoses occurred in a 24-hour period between June 11 and June 12.
According to officials, there is no link confirmed between the five overdoses — one of which was fatal — but drug evidence found at the scene of the overdoses have been taken to the Cape May County Forensic Laboratory is being used to test the drugs.
Officials also said that the presence of heroin and fentanyl in the street drug supply is already known and that the drugs can be lethal.
In an effort to fight the opiate epidemic and reduce drug-related crimes, the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office deploys the Hope One Mobile Unit to bring addiction and recovery services and other resources to communities in the county.
