Albert ‘Dutch’ Hoffmann
OBITUARY
Albert Dutch Hoffmann, of Clayton, North Carolina, born on January 3, 1961, passed away on June 6, 2026, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, to the late Albert and Joan Hoffmann, and was a proud Scranton native at heart throughout his life.
Dutch spent much of his adult life in St. Petersburg, Florida and the Cayman Islands, where he built a successful career in hospitality, managing premier resorts for many years. Earlier in life, he was the owner of the well-known Claudes Bar in Old Forge, Pennsylvania, a place remembered by many as a community staple and a reflection of Dutchs outgoing spirit and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
In recent years, Dutch relocated to Clayton, North Carolina, where he resided until his passing.
Dutch is survived by his beloved wife, Penny. He is also survived by his sister Dawn Burns and her husband Jim, Todd Hoffmann and wife Linda, his Nieces Cally McCabe, Kelsey Carliss and husband Sean, Shelby Hoffmann and her fianc Josh, Nephew Zack Hoffmann and wife Emily, and his great Nephews Brooks and Cole Carliss, Levi Hoffmann. He is also survived by his life long friend Bob Fortini.
Dutch will be remembered for his strong personality, business accomplishments, loyalty to family, and the many friendships he formed over the years. Whether in personal connections or through work, he left a lasting impression on those who knew him.
