It was a special Flag Day celebration as veterans, families, and community members gathered to honor the Stars and Stripes ahead of America’s birthday next month.
The Pennsylvania Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home commemorated Flag Day with its annual concert featuring musicians from the Erie Philharmonic on Sunday afternoon.
A brass quartet from the Philharmonic performed a variety of patriotic songs for veterans, their families, and members of the community. The free concert gave attendees an opportunity to enjoy some of America’s musical selections.
This year’s event also coincided with the 251st birthday of the United States Army.
Organizers said events like the annual concert are an important way for the community to recognize and honor the men and women who have served the country.
While the Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Home does not currently have any Fourth of July celebrations planned, officials encourage veterans and residents to take part in the many community events being organized as part of the America 250 PA celebrations.
