Severe storms swept across Erie, Crawford and Warren County late this afternoon leaving a trail of destruction, knocking down trees and power lines, damaging homes and closing roads.
Severe storms tore through Erie and Crawford Counties between 4:30 and 5 p.m., leaving behind widespread damage — trees down, power lines snapped and roads blocked in every direction.
On our drive down I‑79, crews were already cutting fallen trees off the highway — a sign of how quickly the storm moved in and how much debris it left behind.
One viewer sent us images from Conneautville. The damage was so extreme we were pushed miles back and could not go to the area.
Crawford County 911 says they have been handling multiple storm‑related calls, from downed lines to trees scattered across rural roads.
This is just one of the many power lines brought down by falling trees along Route 198 in Crawford County, and officials are urging everyone to stay off the roads and stay inside until crews can safely clear the damage, Stephanie Logue reported.
By the time we reached Saegertown, at the corner of Route 86 and Route 198, a massive tree had collapsed across the road, stopping traffic completely.
A neighbor who lives just feet away told me the tree came down around 4:30 and has been blocking the road for hours. She says drivers had no choice but to turn around and find another route through town.
In the midst of all the chaos out here, we ran into a crew from All Seasons Landscaping working right in the heart of Saegertown. They told us that even with trees down, roads blocked and power lines snapped, none of this is stopping them from helping the community clean up.
Help people get to their homes from the driveways because they are all covered. The storm will not pass until later tonight, so it is better to get it done sooner rather than later, Zachary Slee, who works with All Seasons Landscaping, said.
