MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Scranton/Wilkes Barre Railriders secured their second consecutive win for the first time since the start of the month with a 6-5 victory over the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs Sunday afternoon.

The Iron Pigs got the early lead with a run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first, followed by a solo homer from Otto Kemp in the second inning to give them the 2-0 head start.

The Railriders got on the board in the bottom of the third inning when Marco Luciano singled on a ground ball to left field to run home Yankees No. 1 prospect George Lombard Jr.

Lehigh Valley added another run in the top of the fourth, but the Railriders had an answer. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Ernesto Martinez crushed a three-run homer to give Scranton/Wilkes-Barre their first lead of the day.

The Railriders would tacked on two more consecutive runs. Tyler Hardman hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth, before Jonathan Ornelas drove home Miguel Palma on a hit to left field in the seventh to double the Railriders lead to 6-3.

Lehigh Valley added one more run on the board in the bottom of the eighth, but Scranton/Wilkes-Barre stayed strong as they went on to the 6-5 win.

The Railriders are back in action on Tuesday as they head to Columbus to play the Clippers at 7:05 p.m.
