CLARKS SUMMIT, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Citera Family Meat Market, a family-run butcher shop based in Stroudsburg, has expanded into the Abingtons, opening a second retail location on Lackawanna Trail in Clarks Summit.

The shop is run by Joseph Sancimo and his wife, Tara Sancimo, the store’s office manager, along with their son, Joseph Jr., and twin daughters, Saydee and Scarlette.

Joseph and Tara said the storefront previously was home to Trovato’s Meat Market, and they noticed customers were disappointed when it closed in December 2025. They added that people have praised the new shop for bringing a locally owned, mom-and-pop style meat market back to the community.

Joseph said the new shop builds on a meat market his uncle, Mark Citera, operates in Stroudsburg, and that the family is bringing the same concept and product standards to the Clarks Summit location.

“We’re strictly Italian. We do everything Italian. Everything is going to be my grandmother’s recipes. We’re going to have meals for two. Our meats are all Black Angus Prime. We want to keep our standards high and sell the best meat on the market. Right now, we’re doing a soft opening just to get to know the people and learn the area a little bit,” said Sancimo.

Joseph said the Clarks Summit store is modeled after the family’s Stroudsburg market, with a focus on Italian specialties and family recipes. The shop’s offerings include Black Angus Prime cuts, kielbasa, New York strips, Denver steaks and prime rib pinwheels made with seasoned flank steak, provolone and spinach. He noted the market also sells ring bologna and other smoked meats prepared in-house at the Stroudsburg location and brought to Clarks Summit.

Store hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday. The store plans an official grand opening Saturday, June 20. For more information, visit Citera Family Meat Market’s website.
