SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — Drivers traveling through downtown Scranton on Tuesday should expect temporary traffic restrictions near the Marketplace at Steamtown as large crowds are anticipated for the Big Boy event at Steamtown National Historic Site.
According to officials, the restrictions will be in place June 16 to improve pedestrian safety and help ease congestion in and around the Marketplace at Steamtown.
During the event, motorists will not be permitted to make left turns into the Marketplace at Steamtown parking garages, regardless of which entrance is used.
Drivers also will not be allowed to make left turns when exiting the parking garages.
Officials are encouraging motorists to plan alternate routes, allow additional travel time and expect heavier-than-normal traffic throughout the downtown area.
The temporary restrictions are expected to remain in effect throughout the event as officials work to manage traffic flow and pedestrian activity.
