The award, according to Myers, "is for a youth who has persevered (despite) the odds against them, by getting over the obstacles that were trying to block their way, (and) one who took the challenge to survive and succeed in education.'' Presenting the award to Mushat are Erie County Judge Stephanie Domitrovich and Myers.
