OBITUARY
Harry Hughes, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Pompano Beach, Florida, surrounded by his loving family. Formerly from Scranton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Joseph and Helen Hughes.
A graduate of West Scranton High School in 1962, Harry proudly served his country in the United States Navy and then as a Scranton police officer for 27 years.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy; his son, Preston and wife, Tanya, of Clarks Summit; his sister, Debbie, and husband, Kevin McCarthy of Scranton; five grandchildren: Shaine, Kavan, Brynn, Cardin, and Trey; along with several nieces, nephews, and many extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving son, Travis, and four brothers: Joseph, Donnie, Jackie, and Bobby.
Friends and family are invited to a memorial service celebrating Harry’s life at the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, PA, from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to FOP EB Jermyn Lodge No. 2, 401 Railroad Ave., Scranton, PA 18505.
