Officials are reminding motorcyclists and drivers alike – to stay alert during the busy summer riding season.
Last year, there were nearly 3,000 motorcycle crashes in Pennsylvania, with 186 of those being fatal.
Officials say, in 96% of fatal motorcycle crashes, the motorcycle is the striking vehicle.
Inexperience is one of the biggest issues among riders, according to authorities.
They encourage everyone to take the Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program classes.
They’re free to Pennsylvania class-M permit and motorcycle license holders.
“I think inexperience – there are other factors that play in there – weather, road conditions… all that type of stuff. But you gotta know your limits. I think that’s one of the mains concerns. Know your limits. Know your riding ability,” says

Drivers are also asked to share the road, use their turn signals, and leave extra space when following a motorcycle.
